- First of all, this is all we do. We do not work outside the home. Providing you with the best puppy possible is our ‘job’ and we take it very seriously.
- Second, we Socialize and Teach! The great temperaments of our breeding dogs is just the beginning. The rest involves daily interaction and activities for the puppies. We provide them with problems to solve, new toys, and different areas of the house to explore. We add noise, music, car rides, children, visitors and most importantly structure to their daily life. We provide a lot of interaction. That is what makes our puppies superior.
- Third, we give Individualized Attention. Most of the time we only have one litter at a time – occasionally there may be an overlap of two litters. We do not want to spread ourselves too thin during the time that we need to be devoted to the litter at hand. Whether the litter is small or large, they get our undivided attention. All day long!
- Fourth, we treat our dogs and puppies, like family, because that is what they are! Our dogs are loved family members first. If our dogs are not in top physical condition, we do not breed. . When we retire one of our dogs they remain in our family as the cherished family member they are, or they continue to live in their guardian home where they were placed as a puppy.
- Fifth, we make sure or dogs are at optimal health! Health testing for our Breeding dogs - we do it all. We test for Hip dysplasia, Elbows; Eyes - Cerf and pcrdPRA; EIC; DM; IC; Cardiac; and vWD. We don't breed any dogs that don't pass all their testing. Occasionally, a disease can be cleared if both parents have been tested and are clear.
- We Raise Happy and Smart Dogs! Our breeding dogs are happy! Some of our dogs have received their Canine Good Citizen Award. Others compete in agility or obedience. They are ALL walked and exercised on a regular basis. You will find many breeders do not have the time to devote to the mental well being of their breeding dogs like we do. We feel happy dogs make happy puppies! We make sure our dogs live full and active lives.
- We start training early! When our puppies are 3 - 4 weeks of age, we start taking them outside on a regular basis to eliminate. That means every two hours. Every day. All day. It is labor intensive, but it sets the idea that elimination is meant to take place outside. In addition, we begin early collar and leash training before our puppies go home. Lastly, We start having the puppies sleep in a kennel dorm style at about 6 1/2 weeks of age. By the time your puppy goes home at 8 weeks of age, he has slept in his own private kennel for a week. This helps them with the transition to their permanent home.
- We keep the mother with her puppies until the puppies are 7 - 8 weeks of age. We feel the mother has a lot to add regarding the upbringing of her puppies even after they are weaned. The mom teaches them acceptable canine behavior. We do not separate them.
- We send you home with a healthy, vaccinated puppy. All of our puppies receive age appropriate vaccinations and worming, are micro chipped, have a two year genetic health guarantee, and are spayed or neutered, or depending on their size, sent, home on a Spay and/or Neuter contract. They are sent home with a gift package from us with some items that we recommend.
- We prep them for travel! You are coming to pick up your puppy to have him fly home with you? No problem! Rent one of our airline carriers for a nominal fee and we will get them used to the airline approved carrier before they go ‘home.’ It’s part of the service we provide.
- We offer additional training! Perhaps you are interested in additional training? Puppy Head Start training is well worth the additional cost. We do an excellent job preparing our puppies for their future with their family. Please review some of our training videos to get an idea how advanced your puppy can be in three short weeks of training. At 11 weeks your puppy will still quickly bond to your family but will be extremely well socialized and well versed in good canine behavior…. And 99% housebroken!
- We offer continued care for your doodle! Going on a family vacation? Check with Leslie to see if she can board your puppy/dog. It will depend on her calendar - so do it early! This arrangement is much more beneficial than a typical boarding facility, and usually costs less.
- We are here for life! Leslie and Peggy are always available to assist you with any training problems you may encounter with your Seaspray puppy, whether or not you elected to put your puppy through Puppy Head Start.
